Create a New vCenter Resource Pool Catch-All Solution

HyAlto utilizes vCenter’s tag-based storage policies to track the consumption of storage associated with virtual machines within a resource pool. As a result, the virtual machines inside existing resource pool must be migrated into HyAlto-provisioned resource pools during a brownfield exercise.

Before creating the resource pool catch-all solution, please ensure that you have already created a vCenter storage policy and tagged the appropriate storage objects.

Once setup, follow the below steps to create a vCenter resource pool catch-all solution in HyAlto.

Step 1: From your HyAlto portal, click Marketplace, then Solutions.

Step 2: In the top right corner, click the orange Add button to add a new solution. Select the vCenter Resource Pool from the available solutions in the drop-down menu then click Select.

Step 3: Under Name, enter the name of the resource pool that will appear to your clients in your marketplace. Provide a brief description to help your clients identify important details about the resource pool and then select the appropriate currency. Click Next.

Step 4: Under the Dependencies section, select the appropriate datacenter and clusters from the drop downs then click Next.

Step 5: Under properties, fill out the desired properties of the resource pool. Enter a name and the memory minimum and maximum values. Leave the default increment values. Select the percentage of the memory reservation and the cores.

Step 6: Under Storage Policy, select the storage policy type and configure it to your preference. You can add multiple storage policies. Click Next.

Step 7: Under Availability, check Is Available then click Submit.

Once created, this solution can be procured to provision a new resource pool. Use vCenter to migrate the virtual machines inside the existing resource pool to this new one.
