Setting Up Your Hyalto Account for the First Time

Setting Up Your Hyalto Account for the First Time

Setup your first Automator

After you have logged in, click on Hyalto Solutions and select the Automator you wish to setup. You have the option of vCenter, vCloud Director and XAAS.

For vCenter and vCloud Director, you will need to download the Hyalto ASA appliance which is located in the top right corner of the Automator configuration window.

Click download the get the latest version of the Hyalto ASA.

Download and Install the Hyalto ASA Appliance

The Hyalto ASA is a VM that allows Hyalto to communicate with the environment that you want Hyalto to manage. First, deploy the Hyalto ASA into your main vCenter DC. After deployment is complete, you can then continue the Automator setup.

The vCenter environment for deploying the HyAlto ASA must meet these minimum requirements:

  • ESXi 6.0 or higher Host:
    • CPU – 2GHz
    • RAM – 8GB
    • Storage – 20GB
  • A firewall NAT rule:
    • INBOUND - Any source IP to your ASA IP on port 8080 and 443. Make sure to use SSL encryption

Hyalto only supports the following VMWare environments:

  • vCenter 6.0, 6.5
  • vCloud Director 8.20, 9.0, 9.1
  • NSX 6.3.x, 6.4.x

Once the Hyalto ASA is downloaded, you can deploy the OVA into your vCenter.

Follow these steps to deploy the Hyalto ASA

Step 1. Right click on the datacenter or cluster on which you want to deploy the Hyalto ASA and select “Deploy OVF Template”

Step 2. Browse to the Hyalto ASA location and click next

Step 3. Select which datacenter to use.

Step 4. Select a cluster to deploy the ASA into.

Step 5. Select a datastore.

Step 6. Select a network. Make sure this network can access the Public domain

Step 7. The last step is to create a custom template that allows you to deploy the OVA with a static or dynamic IP. If you choose static, make sure the IP address you choose is in CIDR Format (X.X.X.X/X).  e.g. 192.168.0.2/24. Click next, then click finish to watch the OVA import into your vCenter. Power it on once the import is complete.

Configure the Automator

Once the ASA has been deployed and powered on, you can continue with configuring the Automator. There are 4 steps to follow to create the Automator:

Step 1. Identify Service – Give your Automator a name and optional description

Step 2. ASA URL – Put in the HyAlto ASA public IP address and port.

Step 3. vCenter / vCloud Director credentials – Enter in your VMWare credentials depending on which automator you created:

  • vCenter - Setup a user with System Administrator rights, or use the default administrator account.
  • vCloud Director - You will need to setup a user with system admin rights. Do not use the default administrator account.

Step 4. AMQP Credentials (vCloud Only) - The vCloud ASA requires an AMQP server. Enter in the IP or DNS address of the AMQP server, the exchange, vHost, and prefix that vCloud is using, as well as AMQP username and password with admin rights to the AMQP.

Once all fields are completed, click on Configure. The configure steps will begin to setup the Automator.

Once a green check mark is displayed for all 7 steps, and you acknowledge that the Automator will start communicating with your vCenter or vCloud, the sync will begin. The Automator will now start to sync all your vCenter or vCloud resources into HyAlto.
