Create a New vCenter Catch-All Solution

HyAlto allows you to create a vCenter catch-all solution that you can use to map existing virtual machine workloads into HyAlto as a brownfield exercise.

Step 1: From your HyAlto portal, click Marketplace, then Solutions. In the top right corner, click the orange Add button to add a new solution. Select the vCenter Virtual Machine from the available solution types in the drop-down menu then click Select.

Step 2: Under Name, write out a name for your reference such as “Catch-all Solution”. The description is optional but not required.

Step 3: Select the currency that you wish to use for your solution. Click Next.

Step 4: Select the appropriate data center from the drop-down menu then choose the VM Template from which to deploy from. Keep cluster unselected. Click Next.

Note: the VM Template field is irrelevant in a brownfield situation.

Step 5: Enter a default virtual machine name for this catch-all solution then select the maximum memory that will accommodate the existing virtual machines you would like to brownfield into HyAlto. The minimum values cannot be set to anything lower than the value provided by the selected template.

Note: HyAlto will change the numbers automatically based on what you choose.

Step 6: Select the select the maximum amount of virtual CPUs that will accommodate the existing virtual machines you would like to brownfield into HyAlto. The minimum values cannot be set to anything lower than the value provided by the selected template

Step 7: Add all datastores under which the virtual machines’ disks are stored and their respective min-max size values.

Note: you can add multiple datastores.

Step 8: Leave the disk value at 1, and select or deselect the auto start and the snapshots options then click Next.

Step 9: Keep the solution unavailable by keeping this box unselected. Leave the drop-down unselected as well, then click Submit in the bottom right.

Your vCenter catch-all solution is now ready.
