Create a vCenter Resource Pool Solution

To create a Resource Pool, there are 4 steps:

  1. Click the Add button under Marketplace > Solutions and select vCenter Resource Pool
  2. Enter the Name and Currency for the solution. Optional add a Logo for the solution and/or a description. Click Next.
  3. Select the Automator you want the solution to use, which datacenter to deploy the pool too, and which cluster the pool will share resources from. Click Next
  4. Fill out the Specs for your Solution:

    1. A default name for the Pool 
    2. Memory - The MIN/MAX number of how much memory the client can purchase (Optionally you can make this unlimited)
    3. Memory Reservation - How much of the memory the client purchased is reserved to them.
    4. Cores - The MIN/MAX number of how many cores the client can purchase (Optionally you can make this unlimited)
    5. CPU Speed - How fast each core will process at (default is 1GHz)
    6. CPU Reservation - How much of the CPU compute power the client purchased is reserved to them.
    7. Storage Policy - The Storage policy is split into 2 parts:
      1. Consumption Method - This option allows you to select if you want the charge the customer full capacity of the VM's that will reside in the pool or if you just want to charge the usage of the VM's disks.
        1. Provisioned - Charge total size of the disk regardless of usage (i.e a 100GB disk with 30GB usage will be charged 100GB)
        2. Usage - Charge only the usage size of the disk (i.e a 100GB disk with 30GB usage will be charged 30GB)
      2. Policy Selection - Select the policy to deploy the VM's too. Set the MIN/MAX the client can use or unlimited to take the entire datastore.
    8. Click Next
  5. Select if you want the solution available in the client marketplace and optionally if you want certain client(s) to see the solution. Click submit.
